What actually drives modular kitchen cost

Most quotations differ for four reasons, and only one of them is visible once the kitchen is installed. Understanding them is the difference between comparing quotes properly and comparing them on price alone.

The carcass is the box behind the shutter. It is the part you never see and the part that decides whether the kitchen survives ten Delhi monsoons. Particle board is consistently the cheapest line on a quotation and consistently the first thing to fail — once water reaches the core it swells and does not recover. BWP plywood and HDHMR cost more up front and are the reason a kitchen still closes properly a decade later.

The shutter finish is the visible surface, and it carries the widest price spread of any choice here — lacquered glass costs close to three times laminate for the same cabinet. This is where a budget is most easily rebalanced: keeping a premium carcass with a laminate finish is almost always a better long-term decision than the reverse.

Hardware and accessories are the part homeowners under-budget most often. Soft-close hinges, tandem boxes, corner carousels and pull-outs are what make a kitchen pleasant to use daily, and they can account for a fifth of the total.

Layout complexity adds a smaller premium than most people expect. Corners need specialised joinery and hardware, so a U-shaped kitchen costs slightly more per running foot than a straight run — but the difference is marginal next to material choices.

Why we can quote this way

Eagle Decor runs its own modular furniture manufacturing unit in Delhi NCR rather than outsourcing fabrication. Cutting, pressing, edge banding and painting all happen under one roof, which is why our timelines hold and why the finish is consistent from one cabinet to the next.

If you want the estimate above turned into a real quotation, we measure the site, resolve the layout, and price the actual cabinet schedule.

Common questions

Modular kitchen costing in Delhi NCR, answered plainly.

How accurate is this modular kitchen cost calculator?

It gives an indicative range based on Delhi NCR market rates for the material and finish combinations you select. A firm quotation needs a site measurement, because the final figure depends on wall condition, plumbing and electrical shifting, loft height, appliance cut-outs, and whether any civil work is required. Treat the output as a planning budget, not a quotation.

What is a running foot, and how do I measure my kitchen?

A running foot is one linear foot measured along the wall your cabinets sit against, regardless of height. Measure the length of each wall that will carry cabinets and add them together. A typical Delhi NCR apartment kitchen is 8 to 12 running feet. Ignore the doorway and window gaps for a rough figure.

Which carcass material is best for a Delhi NCR kitchen?

BWP plywood or HDHMR. Delhi NCR swings from dry 45°C summers to a humid monsoon, and that cycling is what destroys cheaper boards. HDHMR is denser and holds screws better over time; BWP plywood is boiling-water-proof and the most common sensible choice. Particle board is the false economy — it swells irreversibly once water reaches the core, usually under the sink first.

Why is the modular kitchen price quoted per running foot?

Because cabinet cost scales with the length of wall covered rather than floor area. Two kitchens can occupy the same room but need very different amounts of cabinetry. Some vendors quote per square foot of shutter area instead, which makes comparing quotes difficult — always ask which basis a quotation uses before comparing numbers.

Does this estimate include appliances and chimney?

No. The figure covers cabinetry, shutters, hardware, accessories and the countertop where selected. Appliances, chimney, hob, sink, tap, backsplash tiling, and any electrical or plumbing relocation are quoted separately. Budget roughly ₹80,000 to ₹2,50,000 more for a typical appliance package.

How long does a modular kitchen take to install?

For Eagle Decor, typically three to five weeks from design sign-off to handover, because we manufacture in our own facility rather than queuing behind a third-party workshop. Installation on site is usually three to five days once the units arrive.
